Patient Eligibility

The clinic will serve individuals who:

• Live or work on Johns, James or Wadmalaw Island
• Have no health insurance, Medicare, Medicaid or VA medical benefits
• Have household income at or below 200% of the federal poverty level
• Are between the ages of 18 and 64

What does 200% of the federal poverty level mean?

The United States Department of Health and Human Services establishes the federal poverty level. The Barrier Islands Free Medical Clinic serves adults who earn at or below 200% of this level, which translates for the year 2009 to the following:
