How to Volunteer

Volunteers in Medicine clinics rely on donated time from both retired and active physicians and nurses, as well as volunteers from the community to provide administrative support.

To date, 28 physicians and 31 nurses are volunteering at the clinic but additional help is needed. Barrier Islands Free Medical Clinic relies on donated time from retired and active, SC licensed physicians and nurses, as well as interpreters and office volunteers.

Many volunteers are needed during special events such as our annual Celebrity Golf Tournament and Lowcountry Wine and Beer Festival. Marketing professionals, photographers and database experts are just some of the other volunteer skills we need.

Volunteer roles include:

A volunteer interpreter helps the patient and doctor communicate
